Understanding and perfecting basic
strategy in blackjack can make the difference between winning and
losing. Outside of poker, where the players compete with each other, not
the house, blackjack is the only casino table games where the player can
affect the outcome by his skillful play. For maximum benefit, basic
strategy should be altered for different conditions. Basic strategy
players looking to get the best of the online casino should look for
situations where they have the best chance before they even start
playing. Most online casinos will let you just watch the current
blackjack game, before you sit down to actually
bet against the online
casino.
The single most important variable is
the number of decks used. Players want games with a few decks as
possible. One deck is ideal, but two or four decks can also provide
positive situations. Keep in mind that the number of decks vary not only
by online casinos, but also by the tables within the casino. Another
rule which is important, and also varies by casino, is the blackjack
dealer hitting or standing on soft 17. And yet another important
restriction, which varies by casino, is on doubling and splitting. In
some online casinos, players are only permitted to double on card totals
of 10 and 11, another rule adding to the house edge. Other casinos
restrict the number of times you can split pairs. Whenever
possible, players should look for the most liberal rules.
Here are some very popular basic
strategies. You may want to use some of them when you build your own
personal blackjack strategy, and depending on the online casinos and
their rules:
-
If the dealer
shows a seven or higher, hit if the player hand totals 12
through 16.

Stand on any hand
totaling 17 or above.
