The Dealer's Card
This strategy depends on the
dealer's face card. The odds are
saying that:
* Dealer's face card 2 through 6 - the dealer has higher chance of busting
* Dealer's face card 7 through ace - the dealer has less chance of busting
The rule of 10 - always assume
that the unseen card the dealer
holds is a 10, and base your
playing strategy on this
assumption.
Splitting
- always split aces - this move gives you to very promising hands, instead
of soft 12. Remember, that you
would usually be able to take
only one card on each ace.
- never split 5s - a total of 10 gives you a good chance of beating the
dealer, where a split 5s will
increase your chances of busting
on both.
- don't split 10s - don't get greedy, a hard 20 gives you a great
advantage over the dealer's
hand, where two 10s are quite
unpredictable.
- 8+8 vs. 7 - if you have two 8s and the dealer has a face 7 - split the
8s and you go from disadvantage
of the 16 to the advantage of
the possible 18 over the
dealer's possible 17.
- 9+9 vs. 7 - it seems that you would have advantage if you split the 9s,
however, statistically, the odds
are against you in this play, so
resist to split in this
situation.
Soft
- soft 17 vs. 7 - never stand on soft 17. When hitting in a situation like
this you increase the chances of
the dealer to bust.
- soft 17 vs. 6 - not just hit the soft 17 - double it! You have 50% more
chances to win when doubling in
this case.
Insurance - the
insurance is not worth it. If
the dealer gets blackjack - you
would be able to save your bet,
and you do not win or loose
anything. If the dealer does not
get a blackjack, however, you
loose the insurance, and there
is no guarantee that you would
not loose the hand, as well,
thus increasing your total loss.
Our advice - never use the
insurance, take your chances
instead.
