State of Nevada Gets Approved for Online Gambling Bill

As online casinos have not been given an official US fate as of yet they are somewhere in a gray area and are not really sure as to where they belong. The Wire Act is the main issue involved in the illegalness of online casinos as within it indirectly claims that gambling in online gaming or other online gaming places is not allowed.
The US department of Justice is not interested in the legalization of online gaming and they fear it will do more harm then anything else. The state of Nevada in 2001 tried to pass a bill that would allow online casinos to be played in but the home of land based casinos got rejected. The state of Nevada has not given up as reports have come out that this state has made a new bill, AB 471 which is attempting again to get approved by the US Department of Justice. The AB 471 focuses more on allowing the gamblers who come to Nevada to use wireless devises that will allow them to access online casinos while in the presence of Nevada land based casinos. Although this does not solve the problem of legalizing online casinos it nevertheless does do some improvement for Nevada’s access to online casinos.
This Bill passed in the senate 20 to 1 and became a law June 7, 2005. More importantly, it may serve as precedence for future states that are trying to legalize online casinos within their state. Nevada still has not released any information on what specific online casinos their gamblers will be marketed to use and if Nevada will establish heir own online casinos that will mimic the land based ones. All plans right now have not been finalized and are still in discussion.
This new bill marks a new perspective on online casinos and th4 general public is wondering if this is only a Nevada thing or if online casinos will be viewed more lightly all over the United States. Other states have already attempted to legalize online casinos but have been turned down by the US Department of Justice and other such legislators. Some states did not even get to make it to any government hearing as the justice Department stopped them right from the beginning. Online casinos are of such interest to people because they generate big revenues and every state wants a piece of the action.
It has been argued that legislators and some members of the public are more concerned about the legalization of online casinos then land based casinos because online casinos will be harder to regulate and more difficult to tax. There is also a question if this new legalization of the gambling wiring device will attract even more tourists to the really popular State of Nevada. If there will be more of a market will it also be filled with online gamers or the regular land based gamblers? All such questions can only be answered in time by the State of Nevada.
