Bookkeepers Survive Thanks to Online Casinos

It has been a disappointing first-half year for the bookkeeping industry, when it comes to the street betting business. Luckily for them the other part of their industry, online casinos, has been thriving.
A famous UK company, who has off line bookkeeping as well as an online gaming site, felt the difference this year. The online casinos business of this year went really well, while the street betting had a great set back. Especially the horse-racing business had a rather big set back this year, going down in revenues from £12.79 million in the first six months of 2004 to £12.59 million in the first half of this year. This drop in profit was regardless of the 27% jump the company made in total, mostly thanks to the online casinos profits, that went up from £397 million to an amount over £480 million.
The online casinos profits of the company this first half year accounted for almost £120 million of all revenues, showing a 62% growth.
The company reports that their online casinos games have more then 74,000 visitors, two third of these gamers being located in the UK. Next to its online casinos business it also has a branch of telephone betting.
The rush forward in the need for online casinos is opposite to the situation last year, when the other side of the bookkeeping business was more successful then the side of the online casinos.
Even though betting via bookmakers in shops is still popular all over the world, online casinos are getting more and more fashionable. This doesn't stop this company from expanding in 2006 in both directions, not giving up hope for the off line gaming business as well. The company's CEO John O' Reilly states that online casinos may be hot and trendy right now, but this doesn't mean off line gambling is out. He claims that it was just a bad year for the street betting business, which means a good year for the customers, and that this was not completely connected to the growing online casinos business.
The company will open up even more betting shops in the next year, showing by this it has confident in the off line gaming business.
The online casinos side of the company started to expand already. It opened up a branch of online poker, known as a very safe product of online casinos, where customers can play each other instead of the company. This branch has already been very successful over this summer.
The Chief Financial Officer of the company, Ross Ivers, puts emphasis on the fact that the company is doing very well, growing strongly not only physically when it comes to betting shops, but also financially, pointing out the results of this and last year.
The trend might be that online casinos are outgrowing the success of their big brother, the off line betting business, there is still believe that the two can live fruitfully side by side.
