And the Survey Says: Players Prefer

The World Poker Exchange
has just released the result if its survey on U.S. poker players. The
World Poker Exchange is sponsoring the London Open Lifestyle Tournament
which takes place in August and is one of the most important events for
poker players. The survey in short showed that most US players prefer
poker more then any other game and it has been reported that 75% of
players play this game at least twice a month.
More interestingly is that 45% of poker players prefer to play in online
casinos then in land based ones. When asked why they prefer to play
online, the surveyed people said that they felt less intimated in online
casinos then face to face. Many stated that poker was an intimidating
game when played face to face. When it came to women, six times more
women then men stated that they preferred to play in online casinos then
in land based ones because of the stereotype often associated with poker
being a masculine sport. Despite that stereotype, both male and female
online casinos players stated that the prejudice associated with poker
was not such an issue anymore and that online casinos served more as
style for a woman than a necessity. For example, playing in the online
casinos was not done by women to get away from men but rather as a more
enjoyable way to play the game.
The survey further showed that more people felt that winning in online
casinos and land based casinos in the game of poker was due to skill and
not luck. Without the intimidation there, players were ready to use
their skills in order to win the poker game and they were not faced with
the pressure land based casinos gave.
Online casinos players and land based casinos both displayed feelings
that poker was the most exciting game people could play and they were
extremely happy with the fact that there were so many online casinos
sites now offering poker. Some players stated that it was very difficult
for them to play poker online when it was always being offered
separately from online casinos because they felt that it was
compromising one thing for the other. But now as online casinos are
providing poker rooms for their online players, everything seems to be
in working order.
This survey was done in order to prepare for the August 2005 poker
championship that is taking place between August the third and August
the sixth. The lifestyle poker tournament, “Million Luxury” and the turn
up rate for this event is said to be high. Also, there will even be
celebrities present to liven up the party even more. Specifically, Mimi
Rogers, Willie Garson and Nicholas Gonzalez will be there.
Online casinos players will be attending this event and many online
casinos will be featuring their own tournaments during the same time.
