The first independent gambling guide to the best online
casinos! Google in Question for Casino Links
Google in Question for Casino LinksReports have been released that Australian domains are being looked at to see if they are interceding in online casinos regulations. Even the Google of Australia is being investigated for abusing online casinos laws. The Australian Gambling Act which was established in 2001 forbids sites to advertise for online gaming sites and other gambling services. This is hitting specific advertising for any online gaming sites game including black jack advertising, roulette advertising and slots. The reports had been released by Alexandra Mason whom is the spokeswoman for the Department of Communication in Australia. Mason states that it is in illegal act to advertise for online gaming sites as they are an illegal industry. The breaking of this law can lead up to a million dollars a day for corporations who are found guilty of breaching this law. Google has been accused of providing links to its users to online casinos and other gambling sites and that has been deemed as going against the laws associated with online casinos and as mentioned earlier, specifically the Australian Gambling Act, 2001. In 2001 Australia realized it would have to show regulation in how online casinos would be administered and now in 2005 when the advertisement for online casinos has hit record breakage numbers, it is even more important for this issue to be addressed. Google has been accused as doing SEO and allowing key word searches to be led to online casinos which have been deemed inappropriate. It is not only Google that is in question in Australia but also the search engine most popular in Australia, Web Wombat which is based out of Melbourne has been accused of linkage to online casinos as well. Justine Munsie has stated that both of these portals have breached rules forbidding portals to give linkages to online casinos. Her major argument is that any advertising that is done in Australia for online casinos is illegal. The manager of Web Wombat, Tancredi, has stated that he understands where the fear of linkage for online casinos stems from in relation to the law but that this issue must be investigated thoroughly before any assumptions can be made. Tancredi states that it is often not even the portals fault but that web masters working for particular online casinos manage to put online casinos links in neutral sites. Australian citizens have
stated that before anyone can be blamed, whether it be Google, an
individual or Web Wombat, there needs to be a decision made on behalf of
Australia as to what exactly constitutes illegal actions and legal
actions in relations to advertising online casinos and linkage to these
online casinos through neutral sites. There are also issues of how much
portals can take responsibility for when often the domain is out of
their hands after they sell it. Tracking all domains would be extremely
expensive and one may argue even impossible. The point is clear though
that Australia is only the first but not last from countries to be
investigated.
