Connecticut Shuts Down Internet Casino Attempt

As online casinos have not been able to find their home anywhere in the United States, one brave state has decided to take matters in their own hands and allow online casinos in their state. This state of Connecticut is one in which many issues with online casinos have occurred. The online casinos were owned by the Penn National Gaming Inc. and they were under strict observation as other online casinos that have always been afraid to establish themselves within the United States were using this situation as an experiment that would give them information on how it would be had they decided to set up their online casinos as well.

This comes at a time when so many legislators have the issue of online casinos as the topic of debate and as so many countries are not sure where they stand with this particular issue. The United Kingdom is said to be making major legislative changes that may allow online casinos to base out of their soil as well as many Asian countries to be discussing the same thing. Many exhibitions for online casinos have looked at the issue of online casinos being based only out of the Caribbean being a potential setback for online casinos as if they had more freedom they would be more widely accepted.

This controversy mimics much of the controversy that happens when anything new is being proposed; only it is this situation that is so significant because online casinos are being the most popular industry in ecommerce and a social factor that affects the general status of the social equilibrium.
In regards to the Connecticut online casinos issue, the casino in question was Foxwood’s Resort Casino and what it advertised was not even online casinos but an advertisement that could be interpreted as online casinos. This in itself has brought about much controversy as it was not an actual internet casino that was set up. It was the potential of one to be opened and that in itself was enough for Connecticut officials to shut it down. Another controversial issue here is that as illegal as internet casinos are it is more the online part that makes it illegal as opposed to the casino part as one can gave via the telephone but not the internet.

Executive director of the Special Revenue Division of this state, Paul Young, has stated that these laws may seem hypocritical to some but they are the laws and the law is what counts. Internet casinos are illegal in Connecticut and that was Mr. Paul Young’s absolute final point.
This is not the first step that Connecticut has taken as it attempts to get rid of online gaming; it forbade the Connecticut Lottery Association from launching their own online casino featuring lotteries a few years ago. The state of Connecticut is just an example of one of America’s states that has been battling online gaming since its first foundation not so many years ago and that keep growing.
